I can so imagine my mum saying this!
(or worse: ...now she lives in Italy and has not time to call me).

Wanted to say I love the fruit cutting board. Once I move and have some money again, I will need to get my hands on some of your beautiful things to decorate my future apartment! Looking forward to it!

You have the amazing ability to say all there is to say and more in just a couple of sentences. I love this post. I'm going to be there in three weeks time for the first time, and dreading it. Hugs.

My daughter turns 18... tomorrow. We are having a huge celebration tonight at a CocoRosie concert. Still, I have swells of grief.

Happy mom wishes to you and your growing girl.

Jag vet att det känns som ett gummiband som man håller fast med ena handen och som tänjer ut sig längre och längre bort från dig.. och så plötsligt kommer gummibandet tillbaka igen och vet du att mamma, det är man för alltid:)

Elisabeth I know exactly what you mean. Emma is 11 and I already feel it. Last year when she was away at camp she never wrote me, this year I'm still holding out hope : D

My mother recently asked me to take a photograph of her for her passport. - But it wasen't long ago I took passport photos of you mum?! - It was 10 years ago she responded. 10 years ago! Felt like 3 or 4 years ago at most. Time flyes, scary, really.

Jodi, celebration at a CocoRosie concert sounds like a sweet thing to do with a teen daughter :)

Kaylovesvintage, yes that probably means she's having a good time. That's good.

Jane, independent with good confidence, yes that's how we want them. But still very close, always.

Yes, before you know it they've grown up, want their independance and are towering above you (my eldest fourteen year old son is 1.88m!).
Lovely photo!

Sometimes, parents should try to let them go.

I totally suck at letting go my kids. I talk of my 20 year old as " my boy", and i still make the table for eight even thou the second eldest moved from home. And that "boy" is in the army.

And everytime i count the plates wrong, i somehow think: "oh, it doesn´t matter, they come home soon, just leave the plate there and they will eat later".

I´m pathetique. Phuuuh.
