Precious moments.

We have a lot of them, these photo albums filled with memories. Sometimes we "read" them instead of a
book at bed time. Or sit togheter in the sofa, looking, laughing.

It was analouge then. Often so-called "Råkopior" at the eminent lab Odenlab in Stockholm - matte paper with a
thick white border was our standard order. We posted our films and after a week or so we got a heavy package
in the mail. Always such a thrilling feeling of never know what to expect. I kind of miss that.
We make physical photos far too rarley these days.

I think I´ll have to do like Liivan Talossa show you some old photos on a more regluar basis.

Do you print out your digital photos?

that's a good idea, elisabeth! - to "read" photo albums instead of a good-night-story :)
(à propos good-night story: we started mumin'book yesterday:)

oh yes, show us more! please :)

I love these albums - they are just gorgeous. I've been thinking the same thing lately as well.... All the photo albums I have of my girls from when they were little that suddenly stopped in 2003 (must have been when we got a digital camera!) We love looking at our albums too. I must start making them again. thanks Elisabeth :) K

This is a gorgeous album! I just recently bought an old Holga and barely use it. Digital cameras have caused me to be intimidated. This album confirms that I need to put the digital camera away for a while and go back to analog. Thanks for sharing!

A Beautiful Party, my Holga lies here too. Unused in years it feels like...

Hej Elisabeth,

Lovely idea! Forgetting too often to watch own old albums.

These days I do miss real paper pictures, but instead them I make books. There I also add sometimes my paintings to remember during what time my illustrations were done and what else was going on around.

Coffee break (tea and Anna´s pepparkakor), hopefully you too have a nice one!

Oh yes... my son loves when we spend time watching the photos;) And I tell him stories of things he can't remember....
Your albums are beautiful!

Javisst är det mycket speciellt och härligt med dessa album, man "läser" och minns.
Ibland gör jag ett när vi varit på en resa, men det var ett tag sen nu, typ flera år sen.

Nice pictures!
You're right, one should print out more photos and make albums; actually I already started, just have to find nice albums ;) But when one takes so many pictures is to hard to choose a few for the album, don't you think?
Have a nice day!

That's true, i did 'read' an album in the evening. It makes me feel sentimental also. But i can read in bed...i do print my digital photos but i'm more then a year behind! I will show you some too! Love to share these days...

I hope to become really great at photography so I can capture my family's moments. Photography means so much to me and I just want to be able to do ti as well as you can! This book must be invaluable to you!

You know, have you ever thought about creating a book of photographs that tells a story? I could see them pasted in a book just like this!

I haven't printed my photos in a looong looong time, but it's always in the back of my head: I should do it!

These little books of yours are very inspiring! I should make some time...

Hi! This post has given me a very good idea for Christmas presents for my family: printed photos! so rare these days...

Love the idea of "reading" the albums before bed time. What sweet memories will fill the little ones heads as they drift off to sleep.

I tend to print out photos for family members, but never for myself. Perhaps it will be a resolution for 2010.

Aren't they adorable! I miss real photos too, I still take film ones sometimes because you can't beat that feeling of finding out what you've got! xx

great albums! i liked liivan's photo book too. its interesting to see how you would choose to order them, which pictures are more meaningful. and then which ones you go back to the most.

i think you're right, we should start printing more. i don't nearly enough. t and o look so cute!

I totally agree with you. The digital camera has taken away a bit of the "surprise" element of getting photos. Everyone wants it to be perfect so delete and retake. We have been very bad about printing out our photos. Must make it a priority to print. Andrew loves to look at his baby book and "relive" the moments.

No. I tend to enjoy looking at them on the computer best. Every once in a while I will have some printed up for a project or something. Most of my favorite pictures get put on my blog which I use as a sort of virtual scrapbook among other things. I like the editing it makes me do.

did you glue the photos

I love the substantial feel of photos in my hands - it's the same with books, which is why I'll never buy a digital book. I need the feel of paper beneath my fingers.

Anonymous, glue it is.

Yeah I'm a huge lover of photos and albums too, and resisted getting a digital camera for ages as I knew I'd miss the thrill and surprise of getting the roll back. But when Millie was due we finally made the leap, and I can see on my camera that I've taken 4819 photos (mainly of her) since she was born just over two years ago! hehe..is this a record? I have been very good at printing off shots online and making albums until about 8 months ago when I got out of the habit. Sheesh! Alot to catch up on. I am being more circumspect now though. I usually use the black albums with photo corners, but have switched to the pockets for her albums, she loves to read them and isn't as gentle as she should be!

Fint ni har satt in bilderna. Det är jag lite sämre på... :P Ha en fin helg!

Yes, I love to print out my photos, especially the ones that start out as mistakes. They always look the most interesting. I am going to change how I print now that I have seen these photos. I love the thick border

elizabeth said...

i also love the idea of reading the albums... beautiful! and the same goes for the albums themselves - tasteful in their simplicity. as for photos, the digital world has truly done a number on us... i love my digital camera because of how it encourages my amateur photography, but i believe half the beauty of photography is in holding a print in your hands and seeing the moment physically captured for the first time...

I love the way you printed these with a white border. I barely ever print my digital photos but I should more. (Think that's why i adore polaroids!) I have a few albums from years ago I printed out and I love them to bits.
