What a sad, sweet photo. On a happier note, a hedgehog climbed 14 stairs to my mother's bedroom this summer! And her friend found a beaver swimming in his flooded cellar!
hello - i just stumbled across your blog - lovely photos! i have never seen a hedgehog before, he looks so tiny and cute. what a shame he didn't survive!
He looks like he is sleeping. Only the water all around him makes you realise something is not quite right. Poor little thing. They are quite fragile, despite all their spikes.

I held my first hedgehog (none over here in my hemisphere) in Stockholm. It was like a hairbrush with a heartbeat. Love them.
